How to soothe my dogs swollen and mucus eye?

Well i would suggest the Vet as soon as your family gets home, but in the mean time, i did this on my dog until we could take here to the Vet it was the sort of same thing, her eye their was pus and had a gray covering and this made her eye less pus like until we took her to the Vet, i boiled the kettle and in a mug placed a tea bag, i went like i was making a cup of tea, but i didn't squeeze the bag out i let it cool until it was cold. This will be the hardest part because your dog will be trying to get away, have a small dog so if was easier but if its a big dog hold the dog between your legs and then press the cold( i put emphasis on cold because it will burn the dog) on the eye for about 2 or so minutes everyday, this did completely remove the pus and gray covering but it helped according to my vet.
