Can you put sunscreen on a dog?

my boy love laying out in the sun, the problem is he's a boxer so he has short thin hair. Anyway I don't want him to get burned can I put sunscreen on him or do they make a doggie sunscreen, and if so where can I buy it. I went to petsmart and they didn't have anything...
