Explain why Europa is of such interest to scientists(include to which planet it belongs)?

Europa is the sixth terrestrial (that meaning it is spherical in shape, not an asteroid) moon of the planet Jupiter. The reason that it has caught the eye of scientists is that the surface of the planet is composed of ice and the smoothness and youth of the surface as well as the subsurface mineral deposits, hence the red streaks on it suggests that there is a subsurface water ocean perhaps warmed near volcanic vents near the rock surface of the planet. The water as well as the geothermal heat could provide the basis for at least microscopic life so that is why it has been the subject of such enthusiasm.
