Why is it that every winter and summer people like to debate global warming?

Every time we have a cold winter, opponents of global warming like to take that as proof that global warming is a lie, but then when we have a hot summer that same year, people like to use that as proof that global warming exists. Can't people see that they're spiraling themselves in an endless debate and just shut up?
